GETTING HERE
Scar Reef Resort is a smooth, beautiful and sometimes adventurous ride from Bali. We can pick you up in Lombok and bring you to our doorstep. Just ask our friendly staff to organise your arrival and departure. We’ve noticed that the best way to Scar Reef Resort is via Lombok airport.
We can arrange pickup at any location in Lombok. If you’re flying in from abroad, we recommend you take a late flight to Lombok International airport (LOQ), stay the night at Hotel Dmax and we will pick you up the next morning. We will transfer you via taxi to the harbour (Kayangan) where you will embark on the fast boat that will make the crossing to Benete in Sumbawa (1:30 hours). From there, a car will be waiting for you and we will drive you back to Scar Reef Resort (25 mins). You will be surfing before noon! Please contact us for arrangements and pricing.
If you’re travelling to and from Bali and you want to make your own arrangements, here are the best options:
PLANE + FERRY COMBO
- Catch a commercial flight from Denpasar, Bali (DPS) to Lombok International airport (LOQ) – 30 min flight. There are connections every 2 hours during the day. However, we recommend flying Garuda because their flight schedule is reliable.
- Take a taxi to Kayangan harbour (about 2 hours’ drive).
- Catch the ferry (every hours 24/24 ) to Pototano (Sumbawa): 1:30 hours’ crossing.
- Take a taxi from Pototano harbour to Scar Reef Resort.
PLANE + TAXI COMBO
This involves island hopping and a change of plane in Lombok, but can be a really nice ride.
- Book a Garuda flight to Sumbawa Besar Airport (SWQ).
- At Sumbawa Besar, take a taxi to Scar Reef Resort (2:30 hours’ drive).
CAR OR MOTORBIKE ADVENTURE
This is by far the most exciting adventure but it can take a while: 10-12 hours approx depending on ferry services.
- Drive to Padang Bay Harbour (East Coast of Bali) and take the ferry to Lembar harbour (West Coast of Lombok). Ferries usually leave every hour, 24/7. The ferry ride will last around 5 hours – average price 10 USD for a motorbike, 35 USD for a car. You can ask the captain for a cabin to get some sleep on this crossing if you like (cabins cost about 20 USD).
- From Lembar harbour in Lombok, go to Labuhan Lombok/Kayangan (Lombok East Coast harbour). From Lembar, this is a 3 hour drive.
- Take the ferry from Labuhan Lombok harbour to Pototano harbour. Ferries usually leave every hour 24/7. The ferry ride will last around 1.5 hours – average price 8 USD for a motorbike, 25 USD for a car.
- When you arrive at Pototano head towards Taliwang and then Jereweh. In Jereweh, turn to the right towards Jelenga and follow the signs.
